Where to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Perth

It’s time to bring out the green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (Perth-style) including the annual St. Paddy’s Day Parade through the streets of Leederville.  Read on for the best St. Patrick’s Day events, pubs and more.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Leederville

St Patrick’s Day WA Parade and Family Fun Day is back for 2019 on Saturday 16 March. The parade starts at 10 am and Leederville will turn green for the day as floats, Irish groups, and marching bands jaunt down Newcastle Street and along Oxford Street, before heading up Vincent Street, and ending at Leederville Oval. 

That’s where the St Patrick’s Day Family Fun Day will kick off. There will be lots of kids activities, food stalls, live entertainment (including Irish dancing of course) and a bar, so you can enjoy a Guiness or two.

ST PATRICK’S DAY RACEDAY

Ascot

Celebrate the Emerald Isle with a range of traditional Irish-themed food and beverages in Shanty Town. Festivities kick off from 12pm-1pm for happy hour with $7 Guinness pints and all day beef and guinness pies, McDonnells curry sauce and chips and more.

There’s also live Irish music and a full raceday schedule. There’s also lots of other lunch options including a three course Irish meal, buffet options or enjoy picnic hamper trackside.

DURTY NELLY’S

Perth

This iconic Irish pub in the heart of Perth will be starting the festivities early (7am early!) with an Irish fry up including your choice of Guinness, Club Orange and Irish coffee. Bookings are recommended for this one. 

Celebrations will continue throughout the day with live music from 11 am, with Irish entertainment, including The Healys at 11am, The Lost Backpackers from 2pm, Fiona Rea & Grand Remedy at 5:30pm and Luna Ft. Alan Clifford to bring it home aroung 9pm .

There will be Irish dancing, drink specials and all your favourite Irish bevys including Guinness, Magners & Kilkenny.

IRISH CLUB OF WA

Subiaco

The Irish Club of WA are putting on an epic St Patrick’s Day Weekend over 17th to 18 March from 8.00 am to 1.00 am at their club venue at 61 Townshend Road, Subiaco. There will be lots of food and entertainment including live music, Irish Dancers, and the Ireland VS Wales rugby game live from 10.45pm. For bookings and more info, visit their website.

JB O’REILLY’S

West Leederville

This West Leedy favourite will be celebrating a big day on Sunday with the pub opening at 8.00am.  A full Irish breakfast will be served with a pint or glass of bubbles (for only $30), and you can enjoy Irish dancing and music throughout the day. Bookings for brekky and lunch are recommended.

FIBBER MCGEE’S

Leederville

Also in Leederville this crowd favourite pub and steakhouse is a firm favourite spot to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in Perth, as you’ll be in amongst the action of the St Paddy’s Day Parade too.

As with all things Irish, the day starts ealry with a full Irish breakfast and continues on with an Irish roast, premium grass-fed steak, fresh fish or their popular steak and stout pie, and try the delicious home-made soda bread.
