Its Time to Head into Subi – the Subiaco Street Party is back
Subiaco’s biggest free community event returns on Saturday, 6 April 2019, with an ‘Around the World’ theme brought to life by four distinct zones – The Americas, Mediterranean, Asia & the Orient and Down Under.
Each area will feature themed live entertainment, food, interactive workshops and 6 pop-up bars. Think ramen and lion dancing in Asia & the Orient; Zorba dancing and Aperol spritz in the Mediterranean; salsa dancing and a Cuban-inspired cigar bar in the Americas; and, an outdoor beer garden and giant sandpit down under.
Here’s what to expect…
The Americas Zone
Get amongst the vibrancy of this loud and exciting culture! Watch Latin dancers and Samba drummers while tucking into some bites from the Americas. The Cuban inspired pop-up bar will delight you with Daiquiri’s, Mojitos and more. Relax and enjoy the sounds of New Orleans jazz while walking through this zone.
The Mediterranean Zone
Wander through the beautiful Mediterranean while listening to some mesmerising live Italian opera and Spanish guitar performances. Enjoy a thirst-quenching spritz cocktail from Lulu La Delizia’s Italian Sprits Bar and graze on some tapas bites such as prawn Gambas and Banderillas.
The Asia and Orient Zone
This bold and bright culture will put on some engaging performances such as Chinese drumming, Bollywood dancing, Lion dancing and Indonesian percussion. The authentic ramen is packed with an explosion of east Asian flavour and when you taste the gyoza dumplings, you will feel as if you truly are in China.
The Down Under Zone
We live in an amazing country that deserves to be celebrated! The Down Under zone exhibits Aussie culture and appreciation for traditional practices. Appreciate the talent of Noongar singers and old school Australian rock music while enjoying a refreshing beer at the outdoor beer garden. Kids can run amuck in the giant sandpit while you have a laugh at the roving comedy sets.
You don’t need to spend thousands on a trip around the world! Just head into Subi and enjoy what these unique cultures have to offer.
